Programs
Adult Developmental and Vocational Program:
ADVP provides organized activities for adults with developmental disabilities to prepare them to work and live as independently as possible.
Seniors Program
This program assists aging adults, 45 years and older, with developmental disabilities with structured day activities such as crafts, exercise socialization and community inclusion. It is designed to keep them engaged socially with a focus on remaining independent.
Compensatory Education
In conjunction with Wilson Community College, trainees with developmental disabilities receive instruction in basic reading and writing skills. Personal and community living skills are also taught in the classroom sessions.
Vocational Evaluation
This program identifies an individual’s vocational interests, assets and limitations through testing, situational assessments, interviews and behavioral observation. These findings are then used to design an individualized rehabilitation program.
Work Adjustment
Building on an individual’s vocational assets, this program prepares a trainee for entry into the competitive labor market by providing a realistic setting to develop good work habits while earning a paycheck.
Supported Employment
The goal of Supported Employment is to provide employment opportunities to trainees with severe disabilities, enabling them to become as independent as possible in an integrated society. Supplemental Evaluation or Situational Assessment evaluate interests and abilities. Intensive Training services include on-job-site training. Long-Term Vocational Support involve on-site visits to ensure the trainee’s continued success.
Job Development and Placement
Finding a job for every trainee is our major goal. Our community placement specialists teach job seeking skills, maintain contact with area employers and match capabilities with employer needs.
Job Coaching
Once a trainee for Work Adjustment and Supported Employment is employed, job coaches teach job duties, promote job retention skills, and encourage appropriate social skills in the workplace.
Allied Services
This program provides work training assessments for individuals sponsored by other agencies to include the Department of Social Services, private rehabilitation, and private industry.
